True Story.

Well hello there! How did your Wednesday treat you?! Mine was crazy busy, as was yesterday, and sitting on my couch right now gulping drinking a glass of wine is the best thing ever! Last night I had to work late, so dinner (pizza and salad) was ordered in for the group:

Okay, if you are an Arlington, VA resident please go and order pizza from this place ASAP: Lost Dog Café  … Their crust is to die for, and their meat lovers pizza had large chunks of crispy bacon. I was in heaven. Okay, enough about the pizza before I start drooling.

Today was spent at work, very busy, and poor planning on my part because I didn’t pack any food, except for an apple. FAIL. I hate being unprepared. So I had to eat from the cafeteria (turkey wrap and salad), which was actually pretty good. I was scheduled to attend a kickboxing class tonight, but wasn’t sure if work was going to permit it. Once I started thinking I may not be able to go, I was getting the mindset I wasn’t going. I started talking to a coworker about not working out and they said to me, you never regret a workout.

TRUE STORY: YOU NEVER REGRET A WORKOUT!

So I hurried my rear end home and threw on my workout clothes and headed to kickboxing. I was so glad I did it!! It was such a nice release after a busy 2 days at work.

Once done with kickboxing, I went home to shower and eat some dindin (read: dinner). Dinner consisted of a can of tuna, one avocado, Mexican cheese, and lettuce:

Tuna Tacos

  • Mix 1 can of tuna and 1 avocado until smooth
  • Add s+p, onion powder
  • Scoop mix into two pieces of romaine lettuce and top with a little Mexican cheese

Pretty good for a makeshift dinner! Also, our fridge is pretty bare, which is fine since I’m heading out of town this weekend, but we’re trying to make-do with what we have.

Lastly, this week I’ve stayed off the scale, and it has made me so much happier! I think I may just have to do away with the scale for good. Remember this post where I talked about how depressing it is?  Today, Tina talked about the scale in this post, and I was right there with her! I’m over it, and I’m not being stuck to it anymore. Goodbye, Scale!!!

Weekly Workouts! 1.23.2012

Wow, what a dreary dreary day! It was so foggy, and it didn’t really go away all day.  My favorite eat from the day: Cheetah Spots from SnackFace. I’m a huge lover of sweet potatoes, but these little guys just hit the spot.

Celebrating 19 Years!

Hi there, friends! I hope you’re all having a great weekend so far, as I am.

Today has been filled with lots of delicious food. I was able to sleep in until 9ish, which felt great, then made some of these:

I could only eat half (thankfully) because it was quite sweet and filling, but perfect for a Saturday!

After breakfast the BF and I headed to Trader Joe’s for groceries, which luckily they had everything I needed 🙂 We just had to make a pit stop at Harris Teet for beer. Once home, I set to cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom (including the fridge), vacuuming, and running to CVS to pick up a few things. Once this was all done, it was 3pmish, and I had to get ready for my sister’s birthday!

This little lassie turned 19 recently and we had a delicious dinner!

Dinner included shrimp, rice, mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls! YUM. I tried a little bit of everything, but saved some room for the amazing dessert that was in store:

We also watched some home videos tonight with the family and omg – they were so cute and fun 🙂 I love seeing myself as a little tyke!

Now it’s time for some ‘Revenge’ with the BF …

I saw this survey on Tina and Brooke’s blogs and while the BF watchs a TV show I’m uninterested in, I’m going to do this!

1) What is one of your favorite ways to spend a Saturday?

Wake up late and have waffles/coffee for breakfast, run errands, enjoy some lunch (usually leftovers), workout, eat out dinner with the BF and go out with friends for some drinks.

2) List your top three favorite TV shows.

Top Chef, Revenge, Grey’s

3) Would you rather be in pictures or take them?

Be in them, only because I’m so lazy about actually snapping pics, unless it’s on my phone using the retro camera app for the Droid.

4) Why do you blog?

I love that it is a space I can speak freely about my life, and use a really casual tone. Plus, I’ve started to see the great community that it has, and I’m always looking for people who have the same interests/goals as me regarding nutrition, running, and life in general.

Droid, water bottle, my BF’s big comfy hoodie that I stole (I could wear this thing 24.7)

Water, Dr. Pepper (which is rare to drink but sooo good when I do), or red wine

11) Do you enjoy cooking?

Yes!! Love it 🙂 I wish I had more time to devout to it, but I try to cook dinner a few nights a week, and the BF helps out during the weekend!

Nope

13) What are your favorite hobbies?

running, reading, cooking, lounging with my man, being with my family/friends, eating out, organizing

14) Would you consider yourself to be shy or outgoing?

Shy initially, but then outgoing once I know someone.

15) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change?

Hmmm, I’d love to say nothing, but that’d be a lie. I would make my lower half smaller! But I really could care less, that would just be if I HAD to change something.

17) What’s the coolest thing you’ve done this week?

Today I went to a Chinese hotpot place called Mala Tang for lunch that was very neat and fun!! It was essentially like melting pot, but you have your own individual pot of broth, I loved it because it was pretty healthy, just veggies and meat. How it works is they serve up veggies and meat family style,you take what you want and put into your pot, cook in the boiling broth, and eat!

18) Do you live near your family or far from them?

They live near me, about 30 minutes! I love being near my family, especially because my big sister is pregnant!!

19) List three of your talents.

Creative, funny, kind

20) What is your greatest attribute?

Being a comforter, if someone is in a tough spot, I’m always willing to listen or do whatever I can to help!

Weekend Things + Paleo.

Well hello there! How’s your morning going? This is what I have to say:

I’m happy it’s the weekend and that it’s going to be a fun one. Here’s what we have on tap:

  • Friday: Work, do yoga at home, clean (maybe), watch this week’s Greys, enjoy a glass of vino
  • Saturday: Errands out the wazzz, clean house (if not done Friday night), go to parents house for sisters 19th bday party!
  • Sunday: Cook chili, have friends over to watch the Pats game! Heeeeey Tom Brady….

Side Note:  I woke up again at 5am STARVING. I tried to ignore because I would be getting up in 2 hours, but couldn’t, so I had some graham crackers. What the heck though! This is the third time this week… I think I need to start doing a 930pm snack, because I can’t handle the middle of the night cravings.


Lastly, does anyone do the paleo style of eating? I’ve been hearing about it a lot and I’m curious. Right now I really don’t eat a lot of grains, but I do eat sugar and dairy regularly, so those would be the biggest adjustments. Thoughts?!

Today has been quite busy, and again I’ve been starving all day. Quite lovely. NOT. I completely forgot that I have a work HH tonight, which is great 😉

Hungry Hungry Hippo.

Hiii there friends! Let me tell you… today I was hungry ALL FREAKING DAY. So annoying. I blame on it the awesome workout I had last night, which was this:

  1. .5 mile warm up at 6mph
  2. .15 mile at 8.5
  3. 2 minutes walking at 4mph
  4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 10 times
  5. cool down for 5 minutes at 4mph pace

This little number left me drenched, I loved it. Nothing like being completely soaked to ensure you had a great workout!

However, I do have to tell you about my *idiot* moment last night. So typically when I’m doing intervals I bring a little post it note and pen with me so I can mark off each interval when I’m done. Yesterday, I was heading down in the elevator , but didn’t realize I had my pen facing my white under armour shirt with the lid off and I was drawing all over my shirt !!!! 🙁 FAIL! I put some stain stuff on it, but it hasn’t come out yet! I’m going to try oxi clean next… any one have some good tips for getting ink out of clothing!?

Todays workout was a kickboxing class at this place! It was awesome and once again, drenched in sweat! Winning!

On another note, I’m sick of the scale. It just makes me depressed and unmotivated. I’ve been working out fairly consistently (5-6 days a week) and eating pretty well and I’ve barely budged on that thing. On the other hand, I’m doing more strength training, but would love it if the number could go down just a little! I hate that the scale is so powerful. F-U scale.
