I’ve become very sacred about Fridays, and it’s pretty much my favorite day now (along with quiet Saturday mornings).
Our routine is probably pretty ordinary, but I just love it, so here it is:
8-5-ish: Work work work!
5-ish: Home and immediately change into comfortable house clothes (e.g. yoga pants, tank top, light cotton jacket)
5:15-6pm: bring pizza dough to room temp & make pizza! & pour a glass of wine.
6 – rest of night: eat pizza, drink wine, cuddle with the husband on the couch and watch latest Netflix movie, chat, go to bed at a reasonable hour of 11-ish.
Homemade pizza… every Friday
Do you have any special ways you kickoff your weekend?
One of my favorite quotes as of late is this one:
Back in the early winter/spring, it was the help me one. The past few months, it’s been the thank you one.
I honestly feel so thankful it’s as though my heart could burst. Last night I finished reading Me Before You, and was crying because, well, read it and you’ll know why. Next to me was my husband, to which I snuggled up next to once I put the book down, and I kept tearing up a bit, well because he’s just great/amazing/loving/etc.
A lot of times I see other people’s stories and I think perfection. And I think some people may look at us and think the same, but what they haven’t seen is the peaks AND valleys. There’s been some tough days, the no talking fighting days. But now almost a year into marriage, I’m amazed at the beautifulness of it. It’s been both heart breaking and heart bursting. I think the biggest part is knowing this person you’ve committed to see’s all your shit. All the good, wonderful, bad, embarrassing, ugly parts.
Almost a year into marriage, there is no one I’d rather do life with. So when I don’t know what to pray when I’m bursting with thankfulness, I say thank you thank you thank you.
What are you thankful for today?
Long time, no blog! I miss it, honestly. Blogging helps me get my creative juices flowing… so figured joining a blog every day for September would help (via Girl Meets Life). Today’s post is about Something I’m Proud of Accomplishing Lately:
There are 2 things that happened this past weekend:
1) Painting: Last weekend my husband was out of town on a man trip, so being home, I figured I would paint our master bedroom & bathroom! I went with a Behr color called Burnished Metal, which let me tell you, was nearly impossible to pick. It is no joke when they say that there are 50 Shades of Grey… I had four colors on the wall for 2 days, and asked about 10 people, and ended up picking the color I liked the most originally. Grey is much trickier than I anticipated since each grey has a hidden hue associated with it. Anyway, upon picking a color, I wrangled up my mom, dad, and sister to
torture help me paint (thanks family!). It ended up turning out fantastic, and I love it! Paint is such a great way to transform a room cheaply. Now all that is left for the bedroom is a headboard, bench, and some other minor stuff.
2) Being trusting: Trusting can be hard for me, but I’ve been working on it a lot this year. This past weekend with my husband gone, and it was the first weekend in a long time where I felt fine, calm, and all that jazz. I used to get anxious, not sleep, and let my mind go crazy when he is away. The past 9 months, I’ve spent lots of time in prayer, and really focusing on my thoughts and how I let them shape my actions. It didn’t hurt that while he was gone, he let me know he was thinking about me in lots of little ways (he’s winning husband of the year 😉 ). This marriage thing is a lot of give and take, and I’m thankful for a partner that gives a lot. Anywho — yay for learning to be calm, trusting, respectful, and loving (most of all). I kept thinking of a phrase I read out of the book Carry On, Warrior that says: What would love do? It makes a big difference in our thoughts and actions!
What is something you are proud of accomplishing lately? Let’s hear it!
Hi friends, hope you are all having a great week! I wanted to share a couple things I’ve been digging lately, and that are are helping to calm my crazy mind with the wedding less than 3 weeks away (18 days to be exact ).
1. Reading – Books I’ve read lately are:
[Another Piece of my Heart by Jane Green] This was a good easy read, and I really enjoyed the plot!
[Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein] I’m just starting this book, but overall, I really love her message (via twitter & her blog), so I think I’m going to love this book… and everyone can use a little more self-love!
[Divergent by Veronica Roth] I’ve been reading this book for quite a while and keep coming back. Overall, I like the plot, it’s interesting, and I’m curious about how the story will wrap up.
2 Cooking – I’ve been back in the kitchen since we’ve settled into our new condo!
[Italian Sausage + Peppers + Onions] This is one of my man’s favorite dinners, so Friday night I cooked these up! Delicious and easy
[homemade pancakes + bacon + coffee] breakfast is one of my favorite parts of the day… then add in a beautiful day which we enjoyed by eating on our patio, perfection! I also made homemade pancakes which were (if I have to say so myself) out of this world, and pretty easy to make! Oh, and bacon, which makes the world go round…
[messy kitchen] I show my love by cooking, and I tend to make a mess while showing my love! Oh well, as long as the grub takes good, it’s worth the clean-up, which I usually get help from the fiancé doing anyway (he’s good like that)!
Well beyond reading and cooking, I’ve been prepping for OUR WEDDING! Can’t believe it’s so close, and seriously can’t wait to marry my guy. Only 2.5 weeks left as a ‘single lady’, craziness to think about!
Hope you are well & feeling loved!! xoxo
Hi, friends! How’s life been lately? We have had lots of changes since I last talked with you all.
[Wedding] We are close!! Less than 1.5 months away, and getting lots done. I feel oddly calm about it all, and everything that has to be done. I don’t know if I should feel more stressed, but I’m just not feeling it. I can’t thank my fiancé enough… he is SO helpful, completely manages tasks, and gets shizz done! Otherwise, we’re just working on decorations, gifts for bridal party, and other details. I can’t wait to walk down the aisle to meet my guy at the end.
[House] Since May, we have moved out of our rented apartment, into fiancé’s parents house for 2 months, purchased a home, and moved in! Wheeew. It’s been busy, and to be honest, a bit stressful. Now that we’re all moved in, which we did on my birthday (talk about a great present!!), we are getting settled and have figured out our routine. It feels SO great to be located near work, in an area with a great outdoor community, and lots of restaurants/shops nearby. We are hoping to stay in this place for about 6 – 7 years, if all goes according to plan 😉 It’s also been a lot of fun getting wonderful gifts from my bridal shower, and figuring out how we will decorate. We’re hoping to paint, and buy furniture once the wedding is over, but think we have enough on our plate until then.
[Workouts/Eats] I can’t talk about life lately without hitting on my workouts and eating. Up until May, I was working out consistently using various programs, and eating very clean (no gluten, sugar, not much dairy). I felt great, and was loving the progress I was seeing. Then we moved into Tim’s parents house, and I was eating much more liberally, and I enjoyed this break! Workouts were pretty good, and consistent during this time. Then we moved, I took a few weeks off working out and eating was rolling with the punches as we moved, and got settled. Since getting back into our routine, joining a new closer gym, and grocery shopping for ourselves again, I’ve found a good mix of healthy balance. I’m eating foods that make me feel good, give me energy, and that are tasty 😉 Workouts are not too focused, rather focusing on legs, arms, and a mix of interval/HIIT training. I workout best with a plan, but am going with the punches, and just trying to get to the finish line aka wedding, feeling great. I feel like I’m on track, so otherwise, I’m not stressing about working out/eating, just going with the flow and doing the best I can. I have been creating some delicious foods, and I’m hoping to get back into the swing of this bloggging thang and start positing them 😉
[Other] We’ve been able to do a lot of fun things this summer that include vacationing in Nags Head, NC and Portland, ME/Lake Sebago.
Thankfully, we have two more trips, our bachelor/bachelorette parties and our honeymoon! It’s shaping up to be a great 2013 🙂
What’s been new in your life?!
